We understand there has been a lot of confusion about letters and text messages inviting people for their covid vaccination and thought it may be helpful to clarify how this is working.
There are currently two different invites being sent to eligible patients – if you have not yet been vaccinated you will receive both invites.
The 2 different invites are:
- The government run mass vaccination centres, which are nationwide. Cheltenham does not have a Mass Vaccination Site. The closest mass vaccination sites are Worcester, Malvern and Bristol. These letters are currently inviting patients under 60 to have their vaccinations done now, this is being done to allow the GP led vaccination services to concentrate on patients over 60 and those with underlying health conditions (The surgery are currently inviting these patient’s by letter, text or phone call)
- GP led vaccination services, this is at the Cheltenham East Fire Station, next to Sandford Lido. This site is staffed by staff from local NHS GP surgeries. You will receive an invite on behalf of your surgery from our central booking team for vaccination at our local vaccination centre
If you receive A government run mass vaccination invite please Do NOT call the surgery asking if you can book in at the fire station we do not have the capacity to do this. You can either book a covid vaccination at one of the larger mass vaccination sites now as your letter states or WAIT until you receive a letter or text message to say your age bracket is being called from the GP led vaccination services.
